I&...Completely agree with everything you said here. I'm not a parent, but I will be someday, and I have a young niece. When she's old enough to read, I certainly do not want her to not have the opportunity to read something just because someone else thinks it's inappropriate or was uncomfortable with it. Those are judgments that should only be made by her parents, and much later on, she should be free to make those judgments for herself. And when I have children, I don't want other people telling me what is or isn't appropriate for them to read - that would be for me to decide.<br /><br />I think it's great you read what your kids are reading. It shows that you care what they are being exposed to, but not in an obnoxious smothery way (and it doesn't hurt that a lot of young adult fiction is really fun and entertaining to read, haha).
